Option A Skydio

Skydio X10

Commercial AI Platform

The commercial X10: same airframe and camera suite as the X10D, with WiFi6/5G connectivity — the 5G link gives unlimited range wherever cellular coverage exists.

Pros

  • 5G cellular option — unlimited range in coverage
  • WiFi6 networking
  • Datasheet publishes the Jetson Orin processor spec
  • Same true 360° avoidance as the X10D

Cons

  • No multi-band government radio
  • No RAS-A/MAVLINK openness claims

Best For

Commercial inspection programsCellular-connected remote opsEnterprise fleets
Option B Skydio

Skydio X10D

Defense-Line Variant

The defense variant of the same airframe: NDAA-compliant positioning, RAS-A interoperability and open MAVLINK support, and the multi-band Connect MH radio spanning government frequency bands.

Pros

  • NDAA-compliant positioning
  • Multi-band Connect MH radio (incl. government bands)
  • RAS-A + open MAVLINK for third-party flight software
  • Four attachment bays

Cons

  • No 5G cellular option
  • Shorter 10 km MH range
  • Datasheet omits the processor and aperture rows the X10 sheet publishes

Best For

Government and defense programsPublic-safety fleets with band requirementsThird-party flight-software integrations

Our Expert Verdict

Depends on Your Needs

One airframe, two radios, two markets: flight performance, cameras and AI autonomy are identical on both datasheets. The X10 adds 5G with unlimited range in coverage; the X10D adds NDAA/RAS-A/MAVLINK compliance and multi-band government radio.

Choose Skydio X10 if...

Choose the X10 for commercial work — especially where the 5G link's unlimited range changes what a mission can cover.

Choose Skydio X10D if...

The X10D exists for defense and government procurement requirements. We don't operate the X10D; for commercial reality-capture missions the X10 is the relevant variant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the X10 and X10D fly differently?

No — both datasheets publish identical flight time (40 min), hover time (35 min), speed (45 mph), deployment time, dimensions, IP55 rating and operating temperatures. Every published difference is in the radio, frequency bands and compliance positioning, not the airframe.

Where do these specifications come from?

From Skydio's official datasheets — X10 (January 2025) and X10D (December 2024) — both free downloads in our spec-sheet library, verified against Skydio's live copies in August 2026. Two typos in Skydio's X10D datasheet (a "1/17-inch" sensor that the X10 sheet prints correctly as 1/1.7-inch, and "National Defense Authorization Ace") were left as printed in the source documents and corrected here with this note.
