Are both Skydio drones NDAA-compliant?
Yes. Both the X10 and the R10 are NDAA-compliant, which is why they are commonly specified for federal, defence and utility work where non-compliant aircraft are restricted.
How much longer does the X10 fly?
Twice as long — 40 minutes against 20 minutes for the R10. Indoor confined-space work is usually constrained by the space rather than the battery, so the shorter R10 endurance matters less than it appears on paper.
Which has the better camera?
The X10 by a wide margin, though you choose one package per aircraft. The VT300-L / V100-L package carries a 50.3MP 1" wide camera (20mm equivalent) with a 64MP narrow camera; the VT300-Z package swaps the wide for a 48MP telephoto at 35mm (190mm equivalent). Can the Skydio X10 be used for photogrammetry mapping?
It is not our tool for it. Skydio publishes rolling-shutter correction built into the X10, but there is no mechanical shutter, and for survey-grade photogrammetry we fly a mechanical-shutter platform such as the DJI Zenmuse P1 or Matrice 4E.
Can the R10 fly in a completely dark tank?
Yes — that is what it is designed for. NightSense provides zero-light navigation and the aircraft carries high-intensity onboard lighting, with forward-facing 180° obstacle avoidance for flying close to structure.
