Option A DJI

DJI Matrice 400

Flagship Heavy-Lift Platform

DJI's flagship enterprise platform (official name "DJI Matrice 400" — no RTK suffix): 6 kg payload capacity, LiDAR + mmWave obstacle sensing, and the only aircraft that carries the Zenmuse L3.

Pros

  • 6 kg at the third gimbal connector, at sea level
  • Carries Zenmuse L3
  • Rotating LiDAR + mmWave radar sensing
  • RTK heading better than 2°
  • 59-min flight time measured with an H30T fitted

Cons

  • Heavier logistics (9.7 kg takeoff weight)
  • Newer platform, smaller installed base
  • No H20-series or L1 support

Best For

Drone LiDAR (Zenmuse L3)Long corridor missionsComplex obstacle-rich sitesMaximum-endurance mapping
Option B DJI

DJI Matrice 350 RTK

Proven Enterprise Platform

The M350 RTK is DJI's proven enterprise workhorse with the broadest payload compatibility, including the H20 series and Zenmuse L1/L2/P1.

Pros

  • Broadest payload compatibility (H30/H20/L2/L1/P1)
  • Proven platform with large installed base
  • Same 12 m/s wind resistance as the M400
  • Lighter to transport

Cons

  • No Zenmuse L3 support
  • Shorter transmission range (20 km)
  • Vision/IR sensing only — no LiDAR/radar

Best For

Photogrammetry (Zenmuse P1)Thermal inspection (H30T/H20T)L2-class LiDAR missionsEstablished M350 workflows

Our Expert Verdict

Depends on Your Needs

The M400 is the flagship — more payload, longer transmission, richer obstacle sensing, and exclusive Zenmuse L3 support. The M350 RTK counters with the broadest payload catalog. Both are active fleet platforms.

Choose DJI Matrice 400 if...

Choose the Matrice 400 for L3-class LiDAR, obstacle-rich environments, and maximum endurance — its 59-minute figure was measured while carrying an H30T.

Choose DJI Matrice 350 RTK if...

Choose the M350 RTK when the mission calls for H20-series sensors, the Zenmuse L1/P1, or workflows already built around the M350.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the DJI Matrice 400 flight time really longer than the M350 RTK's?

The published figures are not measured the same way: DJI quotes the Matrice 400 at 59 minutes measured at 10 m/s while carrying a Zenmuse H30T, and the M350 RTK at 55 minutes measured without payload at about 8 m/s. Carrying comparable payloads, the M400's practical endurance advantage is larger than the 4-minute headline gap suggests.

Where do these specifications come from?

From DJI's official specification pages for each aircraft, captured and byte-verified against DJI's live pages in August 2026. DJI publishes no spec-sheet PDF for either platform — its official user manuals are available as free downloads in our equipment spec-sheet library, and DJI's official product name for the flagship is "DJI Matrice 400", without an RTK suffix.
