About the NavVis MLX
The NavVis MLX is a handheld SLAM scanner designed specifically for the tight and complex spaces that other scanners can't reach. At just 3.6 kg, the MLX captures mechanical rooms, ceiling voids, crawl spaces, and areas with complex equipment obstructions that would be inaccessible to backpack or tripod scanners.
We deploy the MLX as the perfect complement to our NavVis VLX 3. While the VLX 3 rapidly captures large open areas, the MLX handles the intricate spaces where operators need to reach around obstacles, navigate low ceilings, or document dense equipment installations.
The MLX delivers the same 5mm local accuracy (1 sigma) NavVis publishes for the VLX 3 and integrates seamlessly into the NavVis IVION platform. This means complete facility documentation—from expansive warehouses to the smallest mechanical closets—in a unified digital twin.

How long does MLX scanning take?
The MLX is optimized for detail rather than speed, and coverage depends on how tight and cluttered the space is—we scope it per site rather than by a generic rate. For large facilities, we use the MLX for tight spaces and the VLX 3 for main areas.
