Should I choose EMLID RS4 or RS3 for GCPs?

Category: survey

EMLID Reach RS4 is the newer all-band (L1/L2/L5/L6) receiver with tilt compensation, 672 channels and a ~5 s typical convergence time; Emlid publishes RTK precision of 7 mm + 1 ppm horizontal and 14 mm + 1 ppm vertical. The RS3 tracks L1/L2 only (no L5) on 184 channels, publishes the same RTK precision, and runs longer as an RTK rover with tilt — 18 hours against the RS4's 16 (both log for 22 hours). Choose RS4 for challenging environments with obstructions or when tilt compensation saves time. Choose RS3 for budget-conscious projects where traditional pole-vertical workflow is acceptable.
