Equipment FAQ

Why does shutter type matter for photogrammetry?

Category: technical

Shutter type is CRITICAL for photogrammetry accuracy. Mechanical shutters expose all pixels simultaneously, capturing the exact moment without distortion. Electronic (rolling) shutters capture one line at a time, creating "jello effect" distortion when the drone moves. This distortion prevents mapping software from accurately aligning images, undermining your entire survey. Use MECHANICAL shutter drones (M4E, Zenmuse P1, Mavic 3E) for mapping. ELECTRONIC shutter drones (M4T, Skydio X10) are for inspection only.
