What sets the daily cycle:
- DJI Dock 3 + Matrice 4D: 27-minute charge time per cycle (DJI's measured figure, powered-off aircraft, 15% to 95% at 25 °C). DJI publishes a 54-minute max flight time for the Matrice 4D, measured in a controlled test (forward at 12 m/s, windless lab, obstacle avoidance off) — real mission length is shorter and depends on route, payload use and conditions.
- DJI Dock 2 + Matrice 3D: 32-minute charge time per cycle (DJI's measured figure, powered-off aircraft, 20% to 90% at 25 °C), with a published 50-minute max flight time for the Matrice 3D under the same kind of controlled test.
DJI publishes no missions-per-day figure for either dock; we plan the sortie schedule per site from the charge cycle, the mission profile and the daylight/weather window.
Scheduling flexibility: Dock systems support fully flexible scheduling:
- Time-based: Fly at specific times (e.g., 7:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 5:00 PM for construction progress)
- Interval-based: Fly every 2, 4, or 6 hours
- Event-triggered: Fly in response to alerts from ground sensors, weather changes, or manual commands
- Multiple flight plans: Each dock can store and execute different mission profiles — one for thermal inspection, another for photogrammetry mapping, another for security patrol
Night operations: With appropriate regulatory authorisation and thermal/low-light sensors (Matrice 4TD or 3TD), docks can operate during nighttime. This is particularly valuable for security monitoring and thermal inspection (where temperature differentials are often more visible at night).
Weather holds: Docks automatically delay flights when conditions exceed safe operating parameters (wind speed, precipitation, temperature). The mission executes automatically once conditions return to safe limits.
